'Tis the season of conclusion
To another cycle of joy and sorrow
Winter returns to reap its due
And submit all to an icy morrow
Cold, crystalline white descends
As a gloomy chill stings the air
Nature's denizens retreat in haste
Some with glee, others with despair
Yet within every heart and mind
A vision lies in dormancy
One of strength and fierceness
And the promise of bold beauty
Soon the Dragon will take flight
Awoken from its summit of slumber
And accompany the mending Monkey
A beloved companion in adventure
Together, they blaze trails anew
As the winter wanes below
A dream of spring they will realize
Reviving the earth to and fro
The fires of new beginnings
Melt away the frost of desolation
Streams of life will flow once more
No longer fated to be frozen
The Capricorn, recovering from harm
Will seek these healing waters of ease
Where he bathes his scarred, weary face
To feel the caress of the Pisces
She is a skiddish young darling
Elusive in her ways
Hesitant to investigate
Or give her heart away
Yet an undying romantic hope
Fuels his passionate tenacity
He vies for a vow unto himself
To wisk away her reluctancy
Soon the Pisces will surrender to the flow
And embrace the lonely earthen goat
She will weave her aquatic artistry
To keep his wounded spirits afloat
Through ages of life and death
These bonds prove unbroken
Creatures joined through struggle
Yet love left unspoken
Perhaps a new season will come
When these beings reconvene
They profess their true connections
And fulfill the dream of spring
A Dream of Spring

Re: A Dream of Spring
This is an extremely personal piece for me with several references to my own life and my relationship with a close friend of mine who I've bonded with through many adventures. The title "A Dream of Spring" itself, and several passages within the poem, are direct references to the origins of our names. Her name, "Aislynn," has a Gaelic origin meaning of "dream" or "vision." My name, "Jarek," has a Slavic origin meaning of "spring" or "fierce, strong." The sections mentioning the dragon and monkey are references to our Chinese zodiac signs; hers being the dragon and mine being the monkey. They are said to be among the best astrological matches. The sections mentioning the Pisces and the Capricorn are references to our Greek zodiac signs; hers being Pisces and mine being Capricorn.
In a nutshell, this poem is me expressing my desire to progress our friendship to the next level. Just last summer, I suffered a rock climbing accident that nearly killed me and left me disabled for several months. This winter has been an especially dark and gloomy one for me. Yet through it all, she has been at my side giving me hope and encouragement, and I allude to that in this piece. I've known her for nearly two years now as a friend but I've quite simply fallen in love with her. This poem is hope that she possesses those same feelings and reciprocates them to me after I profess my love for her. She has suffered heartbreak in the past, so this will be a risky undertaking.

Re: A Dream of Spring
Nice rhyme and dialogue of a simultaneous meaning. Love poems where always the most difficult for me to write, to reach down into my soul to pull out the feelings turn them into words and then make them rhyme. this kind I like the best. NICE1 and good luck - Falstaff
