SPOTLIGHT APRIL 20: you are (not) here

Postby IronHeart » April 16th, 2017, 1:06 pm

Image

Hard for some to read, so here's the words:

connection is an illusion
even when we touch
an unfathomable space exists
between us

the matter we are composed of
is not real, we are fiction
and nothing matters
everything is meaningless

you are (not) here

you are ghosts
and so am I
all of us are haunted
tormented by phantoms of life

we wander, searching
in ourselves and each other
trying to find the imaginary
proof we exist

Deep, man- I often wonder if anything we do matters... is life just a rush to gain as much as possible before inevitably losing it all to death?

Wonderful work!!
Deep on different levels - the emotion in your voice added immensely
to the words on the page...
A flawed existence.

Hey J.C.! Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughtful comment. I think it is good to wrestle with the hard questions, like the one you ask. Even without an answer, asking the question and pursuing it deepens our being. As such, I will not dare to rob you of that experience, if that is what my words have promoted in you anew, with a cheap and swallowable answer.

I'm glad you liked this work JASON, thank you for letting me know your thoughts. Indeed, while poetry can be enjoyed in a quiet read, the spoken word of it carries the short words and plays upon their strings of meaning to powerful effect. Your words encourage me! When my studio is finished, I'll be looking forward to creating more diverse and creative ways of sharing poetry. I had originally wanted to animate this, but, other needs were more pressing on my time.

ahh! existential crisis!
it's hard not to relate to it. especially when you have two practical exams and you can't find your notebook (that's my plight!)

well, i'll stop whining and tell you that it's a deserved spotlight!

seraph!

Crisis, indeed! I know how looming issues can make one want to disappear. Here, let me try to help. You've probably checked all the usual spots, but what about odd spots? Like the kitchen, bathroom.. places you may read if you were trying to cram and wouldn't normally read in?

Thanks for your thoughts, hope the best for your studies :)
