Bury Me

Post by Lortimer » May 29th, 2013, 5:08 pm

Bury me in the walls,
So that my ghost may wander, and float
In the recesses of home

Bury me next to you,
So that my ghost may hold and love you,
As my bones once did

Bury me in your dreams,
So that my reflection may whisper to you
Of slowly fading dreams

Visit me in that cold as iron tomb
And warm my bones with lily white roses
And sprinkle me in drying tears

Or if I'm cremated,
Climb the highest mountain
And that warm breeze shall be me

And that soft spot on the pillow
And speckle of sunshine,
Shall be me

“I soon realized that poets do not compose their poems with knowledge, but by some inborn talent and by inspiration, like seers and prophets who also say many fine things without any understanding of what they say.”

Well done, this piece goes beyond death and time, instant classic, I only wish that I wrote it-Falstaff

Very imaginative write that's chilling and beautiful at the same time. Quite the feat to pull off! I thought of someone who died with an unfulfilled or tortured relationship and that ghost haunting the other involved. Nice work.

Fitting I think when one is contemplating their own death. We all have those wishes if we stop to think. The first bit though....I do not want bodies in the walls of my house.

I think you made this a memorable poem that warms the heart with the following words:
Or if I'm cremated,
Climb the highest mountain
And that warm breeze shall be me

This reads like a great poem written by a poet of some long gone era. I loved every word, every image of it. Magnificent.
