Because You Like the Spoken Word

Post by Shaninja420 » March 31st, 2019, 8:27 pm

So this poem was written by me recently when my partner and I were separated for the last two months due to things beyond our control. Even though it was very early in our relationship when this happened, we both felt and feel very strongly towards each other. We have since been reunited after such a stressful time apart. My poetry generally doesn't follow the format that this particular poem is built upon and I wanted to try my hand at the "spoken word" type of poetry because he really appreciates that style. So here it is.

Because You Like the Spoken Word

I've met someone who reminds me
That life is a beautiful thing.
That there are times to sing,
To laugh, to weep,
To ding a bell. (lol) <---Inside joke
I've met someone who has cast a spell
Over my mind, and my heart as well.

I've met someone who looks at me and sees
All the little subtleties that the book I am reads.
Not an easy thing to do,
But those pools of blue-
The window from where that keen mind looks on through-
Sees adventure, sees me, sees possibilities.
And like an abyss, I could lost in that bliss,
Because when I stare back, I can see all of him too.

I've met someone whose presence is my home,
And when I'm alone, whose absence is felt.
We're now dealing with rigor that cannot be helped,
But without a doubt, I swear I'll figure out
That whatever the resistance that life throws in ohms,
How to again find the current that leads me back home.

I've met someone who has shared his incredible song.
In body by touch,
In heart and of mind,
In talking, or silence with hands intertwined,
We somehow connected in space and in time.
And I'm not going anywhere
Should you not want me to.
I won't step aside or leave this behind.
You're crazy and bonafide, that much is true,
And in the darkest of days it's been my solace to find
That the best of all things that have been getting me through
Are the memories of witnessing just you being you.

Lovingly composed and beautifully expressed; a delight to read and much enjoyed.

May the sun touch your true love and keep you on gentle and pretty paths...

She told me to live.
Speak of the lonely.
Time is an invitation.

so I really would like to see more of your stuff. you could definitely feel the emotional connection behind this one. it was pouring out, emote emote emote. Still, it was well crafted and I loved the little choices like the ohms line. :)
