Amoeba

My reason is too familiar
with the dark
recollection and evidence
luxuries unto themselves
a reaping of good fortune
sown of hope and ignorance
none of it necessarily deserved
but there it is
part of the earth and sun
and all of it as far beyond me
as I an amoeba
but there we are
no secrets or ceremonies
and shining like stars
the two of us like one
an amoeba I have become

There can't be something more alike than when an amoeba cell splits into two sister cells. That is indeed a very close relationship.
