Minute By Minute

Post by eploscik » October 7th, 2017, 2:20 pm

Many chances throughout
Come down to change
And to think we'd be at this juncture
After such a long time
Just makes me shudder.

It wasn't destined
In the cards
What you signed up for
Open communication respectful
Instead of sour milk
Spilled with a bitter heart expired
Here's that negativity again
You can call It realistic
But you were just a born fatalistic
With no self worth
And in the end
You have to show some
Love, compassion and sensibility
Not just to me
But yourself
Or I'll be heading out the door
Believe that
I know you do.

I don't want a poor facsimile
I want the man
I fell in love with
Strong
Sensitive
Witty
With a confidence
That could lift me
From the nagging doubts
I struggle with
But too proud to admit
So you can continue
With the party line
That you're willing but unable
Save it for someone
Naïve enough to swallow your horse…t.

It's time to bear down
Get tough
We've survived the rough patches
Certain to be more
But damn it they
Better be less frequent
For we're past one day at a time
Minute by Minute now.

There is so much grit and determination in this. The ultimatum of a rocky romance, love it.

From childhoods hour I have not been
As others were -- I have not seen
As others saw -- I could not bring
My passions from a common spring --
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow -- I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone --
And all I lov'd -- I lov'd alone --

I struggles a bit with the flow on this one but I absolutely love it. Stunning. I dated a man similar to what your describing, it's like you took the words I couldn't find, right out of my mouth. That last stanza too. I love the idea of minute by minute instead of day by day and how that illustrates the frustration, and the warning. Well done!

Greetings!
I was reading through your poetry recently and I noticed that you weren't replying to others' pieces. At TPS "we ask that you reply to at least 3 posts to every one that you make". This is a part of the TPS Guidelines posted at the top of every poetry forum. This way, everyone will get at least 3 replies to everything they post, and it encourages a sense of cooperation within the community. After all, if everyone kept posting new works without replying to others' then we'd have alot of poems without any comments.

So if you could please make an effort to reply to three other poems for every one that you post, we'd appreciate it. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Thanks,
-Muse of Tears

I let the sun on my skin.
Pretend I don't burn
I'm not burning here.
I just lay ash
On my eyelids,
And rub it deep into my
Bones.
