Pearl

Post by bunsen » April 21st, 2017, 12:08 am

Pearl

What I suppose I know
I cannot trust
as far as I am from myself
suspended in blackness
made harmless time
after time
yet still intractable
and perverse
unrepentant of my origin

that I should be thus
that I should be expressly
this thing

yet shine so softly
a whisper of silent seas
passing unnoticed
in grey moonlight

I really like this poem :thumb:
The grey moonlight shrouds everything in secrecy...
Not living up to expectations is a possible interpretation...
The age old clash between good and bad - the beauty of a pearl and the darkness
in which it was formed ?

I like it. Why am I me? Enjoyed the sense of isolation. The second phrase was very good. Poetry is not for cowards. We take chances.

Intriguing poem Buns that works both ways for me: as a love poem to the titular "Pearl", or possibly as a metaphorical introspective on oneself and one's personal philosophy; or a combination of both maybe. Cheers and well done! - Dan

Playing around with the words I sense an Intriguing poem about a pearl that needs to be removed from the darkness in which it was formed to display the beauty seen only in light.
The darkness is like grey moonlight or possibly sin that keeps its natural beauty from being seen. The darkness is pictured as being intractable, perverse, and unrepentant. Anyway, I enjoyed it.
