The Longing

In your dreams you have searched Me out
And have not known it
You feel an ache deep inside
And know not why

In the dark of the night you've called My name
And knew not that it was Me you called
You've searched for Me in everything
And found Me in nothing

But still you desire Me
You long to surrender all
But you are afraid to trust
For I am beyond your mind's grasp...

Indeed, man's search for Joy, is eternal! As a great spiritual leader, Russell M. Nelson said, "If we look to the world and follow its formulas for happiness, we will never know joy. The unrighteous may experience any number of emotions and sensations, but they will never experience joy! Joy is a gift (from Heavenly Father) for the faithful - parenthesis added. Was instantly reminded of the mystic and poet St. John of the Cross. His love poems to God - Father, Son and Spirit - are searingly intense. I think yours is much gentler poetry and yet full of the same mixture of hope and pain.
