again, winter

Post by albatoss » November 19th, 2016, 5:22 pm

Shivers ripple throughout my body
taking warmth with them hand in hand
as they exit.
I sigh.
My breath dancing in front of my eyes,
I run inside to grab a coat.
My best friend in times like these...

Works both as a chilly description of winter, and a metaphor for tough times in life and needing that 'coat'. Brilliantly written!

Cleverly composed, with wonderful descriptive imagery-- much enjoyed.

I felt a siver when I read this/ Winter always comes again. The literal and the metaphorical. It is best to be prepared. Enjoyed the read.

Thanks much for sharing.

Dear albatoss: This is a perfect example of an artistic description of a simple, very human moment in time.....a moment we all have felt at some time in our lives. And in that description, achieved so perfectly, a shiver kisses the skin of the reader, ever so briefly, and a flash of perfect memory invades their mind...seeing themselves reaching for a winter coat, a familiar sweater, a loved shawl, a warm blanket, to feel protected and content in their presence....the way one feels in the presence of a best friend. So very well done and congrats on your well deserved spotlight.

There is no need to shiver if you can find a coat or garment to help keep you warm. Often we are confronted with problems that are not easily solved, but our spirits are uplifted by the things we can do to lighten our burdens. Congratulations on the spotlight.
