Breath out! Breath in!

Post by Namyh » March 25th, 2013, 11:38 am

Breath out! Breath in!

Love leaped from rocks on high sea cliffs,
romping in the winds that pierce the mists,
stretching out wings ‘cross sun plush lands
to ride on the breaths inhaled by man

and search those souls for hearts of stone
to infuse Joy into flesh and bone
and hear their sighs make songs sing
with breath pushed out by Love’s spread wings.

What blast of sound can summon Love.
What beckon of voice will do.
What ring of the phone can hearken it
to the heartache that reigns in you.

Such crossroad of wonder in the lives of men
has starts, beginnings, hopes and ends.
It’s a tasty, succulent slice of life
that all of us covet and lucky ones bite.

We hunger for its pulse and starve ‘til it comes,
feeding on its impact with a glorious hum,
crying when it’s over dripping tears so frail,
thinking we’ll never breathe, love again or inhale.

But Love still leaps from high sea cliffs,
with a romp in the wind and a pierce of the mists,
yet hears that heartache’s voice so thin
that it spreads its wings on the next breath in.

Beautiful language and flow, really enjoyed this one

"I wouldn’t want you to want
To be wanted by me
I wouldn’t want you to worry
That You'd be drowned within my sea
I only wanted to be wonderful
And wonderful is true
In truth I only really wanted
To be wanted by you"

This one strikes a personal note in me. Love is something I've always wanted and how you describe it is perfect, the hunger for it. Sometimes it feels like it's never enough and when we run out its depressing. I know I've cried when I've lost love and this poem helps me realize that I'm not the only one who feels like this. Beautiful Job!

The simplicity of breathing that is unnoticed yet optimal in sustaining us runs through your writing. Love like breathing should sustain us without great movements of show. Good work!

MarcusD – It’s amazing that each of us walks different paths in life. Equally amazing is how often others walk those same roads and discover that they are not the only ones on it. If Love still leaps off those high sea cliffs, it’s to see who’s walking and maybe needs a ‘breath in’. Thanks Marcus for injecting oil into these old bones with your words. Now they rattle a little bit less and I’m feeling better. Namyh

This is beautiful, simply beautiful. Love is a bright light within itself but yet it needs to breath as well. thank you.

A bed of moss was granted,
she laid down with a sigh,
Embraced by the green blankets
she kissed the world goodbye

jovel – Look at this way. Breathing in and out goes unnoticed because it’s automatic and we don’t have to think about it. Love on the other hand has an impact of its own that will have you so activated that you can’ t stop thinking about it. Prepare for gasping shortened breath, rapid nostril dilation, spasmodic tingling everywhere and the dead giveaway of a smile that won’t stop smiling. Whoa! LOL. If this work keeps a smile on ya, then I’ve done my job. Glad you enjoyed jovel. Namyh

Black VelvetRose – When Love arrives with brightness, it always proves that a lightbulb isn’t the only thing that can glow. We poets love to write about it. Hope this helped to put a little extra breath in your breathing as your words have put one in mine. Namyh

hello Namyh!

But Love still leaps from high sea cliffs,
with a romp in the wind and a pierce of the mists,
yet hears that heartache’s voice so thin
that it spreads its wings on the next breath in.

it is all quite delicious, but those are my favorite lines! a great "heart" piece!!!
always, Cat

Cat – I’m so very happy you found this quite delicious and stopped in for a bite. Just when you think there is no more Love and you’re about to step off into an abyss of dread and despair, you get a tap on the shoulder and hear words say "I got a surprise for you, now ‘Breathe in’. It’ll change your whole day, month and year and maybe a lifetime". Whoa! Thanks Cat. Namyh

Somehow, the setting - cliffs and jumps and an abyss gives me a mental image of liberty, release and freedom. Love can do that and will do that, except for one little thing: where is it?

TIW – So very glad to put a flawless in your day. I’m happy this poetic arrow went straight to the heart and you were in its way for an impact. Puts a big smile on this old poet. Thanks TIW. Namyh

Sophie – Some say Love is a rollercoaster and yet isn’t it amazing how we are willing to stand in line forever so we may be thrilled by its ride, even when it takes an eternity to get a seat and even when it takes another one to ride twice. The human heart! It is unfathomable and permeated with the hope embrace that “love is never ending”. I guess that’s why we poets are drawn to its depth and write about it so often. Thanks for the Wow!!! It makes my day Sophie. Namyh

Balustrade – Romantics say that if you look for Love, you won’t see it. If you listen for Love, you won’t hear it and if you reach for Love, you can’t touch it. And yet we can’t wait for its impact. We don’t know from where it’s coming and we don’t know when it’s coming. All we ever know is that it’s out there on its way and we hope we’re on its list. That’ll put a freedom jump in anybody’s day. Thanks Balustrade. Namyh

mangodog – So very happy you enjoyed this. In this land of chaotic ‘ups and downs’ which often leave up panting and gasping for life, take a breath. Love may be just jumping off a cliff and coming to town and headed for your neck of the woods. We just never, never know. Thanks for spending a spell drew. Namyh

Ahh Shucks David – Now my head is startin’ to swell up from your words and I gotta get a bigger hat. LOL. Makes a poet proud that you found this refreshing and original. Surprisingly, this was inspired by watching a high dive championship on tv, eating a cheeseburger with fries and thinking about a later evening date. Poets! Go figure! I tried to write it so the reader would enjoy it. I’m so glad you did. The swellings going down DW but I think I’m gonna keep the hat. Thanks. Namyh

Really enjoyed this piece, my friend, and agree basically with all the comments above. And loved your very insightful comment to MarcusD - it takes a "whole" soul complete in it's self to have that kind of understanding.
