Time and Eternity. ( Sonnet )

Post by Mizzy » October 4th, 2014, 5:49 pm

Rejoice today! for life is short my friend,
Seize passing time like gold, whilst you are here,
Dwell in the now, but ne'er on journey's end,
Until such curtain falls, withhold your tear.

Run into natures arms of outstretched boughs,
Behold sweet woodland sounds, much joy they bring,
If still in love, love hard ! renew your vows,
Hold tight that hand, whereon you'd place a ring.

Arise my darling, may I have this dance ?
And we will waltz together round life's floor,
Our eyes transfixed, lost deep in lovers trance,
Just squeeze me close, be mine for evermore.

When life's last failing breaths are short and few,
My final fading thought will be of you !

You remind me that I need to set aside self and unnecessary personal 'needs' and smile broadly from the heart. As I get older and unpromised time shorter, this seems easier. Thank you for an enjoyable read.

SCHWING! That was awesome! Inspiring too! I need write my gal some good gushy love stuff before she starts thinking that I've run dry against her. I love a well-written sonnet and yours is a beauty! Adored the summary in the end couplet. Getting an end couplet right is a sage art...in which you are skilled! Welcome to TPS! I hope you find a home in the sanctuary! - dew

Dearest Mick, wow, this is breathtaking! The rhyme just flowed, no forcing of it. Really reminds me of what
is truly important important in this life. Not material things, they are disposable, no it is the ones who love us
and we love back. Very Beautiful!

Love And Hugs,
Lynn

what a beautiful poem! pure class.
From the title to the brilliant close - a waltz through the mortal lifespan
and into the ever after...really enjoyed.

Touching sentiment floats through your words.

A lovely sonnet Mick, reminding us that our time here on Earth is transitory and we should take care not to waste too much of it. I imagine many readers will be thinking 'Carpe diem' by the time they've read the closing couplet.

Regards

Bill

Great advice, artfully expressed, and the sonnet form was exquisite in the execution Mizzy. This was the best thing I've yet read today (and that includes my own stuff too!). Cheers!

Beautiful and poignant and gives me the sense of hearing the voice of Time itself.
Fantastic effect.

Mizzy,
Reading this beautiful Sonnet brought a tear to my eye, for some reason I imagined an elderly couple dancing, and the man thinking his lady is still beautiful after many years of marriage, true beauty truly does come from within. :flower:
