Arizona

Post by golfbrian » June 11th, 2014, 2:44 pm

I'm leaving in the morning
headed for the coast
You ain't always been my favorite but you're the one that I'll miss most.
I'll be cruising down that highway singing along to the radio
Passing through my favorite towns that's the only way to go.
Tomorrow when I'm flying
across that big blue sky
you'll be on my mind.
As the miles keep piling on
you're moving farther in my past
The years keep getting shorter
oh how time goes by so fast.
I like a little bit of country
in my rock and roll
Then we crank it up real loud
and add a little soul.
I like some attitude
in the girl behind the bar
I can drink a little whiskey
but I love my PBR.

I'm not the young man
that I used to be
And This world has never
stopped surprising me.
There was a time
I thought I had it all.
I guess I never knew
how far there was to fall.
I'm out here in Arizona
like I'm supposed to be
Never gave it much thought before but now I'm free.
My song comes on the radio
as you're sitting in your car.
It's too late for you to miss me now I've already made it this far.
You know I like a little bit of country in my rock and roll
Then we crank it up real loud
and we add a little soul.
I like a little attitude
in the girl behind the bar.
I can drink a little whiskey
but I love my PBR.

Arizona seems like a good place to be. Wish I could hear you music now. Words are ok,but man, we need the guitar or whatever else to back them up.

You know the lyrics already have that beat in them, makes your head bang on its own, heh, which is really cool!
And I like as well how this narrates kinda story of someone following their dreams and just how their life turned up to be, and the refrain was wonderful!
Much enjoyed reading!

"You ain't always been my favorite but you're the one that I'll miss most" - this line is worth a song of its own GB. Got a bit disoriented in the opening, what with the driving and then flying lacking any transition but then that could be me too. I drank a lot of Pabst last year; not a sweet as it used to be by my recollection (better now) - cheers!

Blues and folk artists love trains. Trains were the lifeblood of America back then, like cars are now. I think sometimes there aren't enough songs about driving.

Love the attitude in this fine piece and the conversational tone works brilliantly too. Great piece. Well done on the spotlight.
