INCOMPLETE

Post by Aventuяine » May 18th, 2014, 10:40 pm

A million bits and pieces of me
All scattered across the earth, my Hocruxes
Hidden in broken fragments and unfinished art
In every missing link along the canvas

A sketch thats not quite finished
Putting pen to paper i drew her once
Uwa, with all her curves and lovely edges
Not her face though, couldn't quite get that right

She pleaded and chided, urging me to finish the piece
I couldn't quite bring myself to complete it
I was too scared to get it wrong, to make a mistake
Why tiptoe through life to arrive safely in death?

Now i sit through the night heavy laden, reminiscing
Regretting lines undrawn, words unsaid, thoughts unshared
I poured my heart on that pad with tears and a pen
A piece of me lies Incomplete, forever lost with that sheet

Others remain unattended...a weeping child, a broken smile
They haunt my dreams and keep me wide awake
They all deserve to be finished, don't they?
A dying rose, A wandering stranger...melancholy is my ally

With words i hope i will, put these haunting thoughts to sleep
Righting my wrongs by writing what i should have drawn
However hard i try, for the face of the beauty unsketched
Words are not enough.

Well depicted emotions. Full of regrets, sadness, fear and helplessness. Like the first verse and I like how you ended it. Well done!

I breathe. I love. I praise. I laugh. I mourn. I fight. I write. I share. I smile. I continue.

Blew me away Ave, to complete the task by substitution, art for art; to seek closure for things left undone. Definitely aced this one in my book, cheers!

You may not believe it when I saw I cried a tear when reading this piece.
This all started when I read the lines "Why tiptoe through life to arrive safely in death?"
The next few lines were just emotional as well since I recalled my painful past and some regret.
Anyway thanks for the share!

It is strange how we leave things undone..words we meant to say or write..a portrait or painting tucked away forgotten in a lonely state of incompleteness. The third stanza so true..fear of failure the bane of existence.Elegant spotlight choice..Tangie..

An artist's lament for sure; while the main medium of this one is a portrait artist, the extended metaphor is easily adaptable to writing, in fact the final line suggests poetry is another driving force behind the piece. For me it captures the feeling of thoughts left unexpressed because the artist lacked the confidence to express them, awed by the beauty of their subject matter.
Congratulations on the spotlight!

Hi Aventuяine... welcome to TPS first off and I hope you enjoy TPS forum for we are glad to have you here.

Aventuяine, you certainly depicted an artists lament perfectly and the way you gauged your word phrases timing wise was so perfect in my opinion. This is a really emotionally charged piece that rivets the reader with the narrators description of how he or she feels about not getting something done in life that is still very important haunting the individual to some degree or merit or perhaps at one time was the most important endeavor to finish in life for the narrator until living life got caught in the way for many reasons that every person goes through in life and faces. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this masterpiece, engaging, and intriguing write. Thank you for sharing....

"Righting my wrongs by writing what i should have drawn"

Very nice string of words and meanings within meanings!
