God, Forgive Me

Post by Zombie » May 16th, 2012, 1:16 pm

Counting the stars was her favorite pastime.
I wonder if she’d even remember me.
I wonder if she’d even remember herself.
If the world was like the stars, maybe she could.
But, I know it’s never true; it never will be.
She’s gone and I’m still here, dreaming of what could have been.
The black night reminds me of her dark hair.
God, what I’d give to brush that hair again.
The twinkle given off by the stars remind me of her eyes.
God, what I’d give to look in those eyes again.
The heat of the sun makes it harder to face the day.
Without her here, it makes everything harder.
I miss her more and more every day.
Sometimes, I try my best to hurt me, so I can be with her.
It will never be good enough.
The world needed another star; at least she’s in a place she loved.
But, I can’t join her. I’m her father. I should be there.
I’m just a vortex, not a star.
God, forgive me.

Very sad. The use of stars made this very wistful and painful. A parent should never have to bury their child. It's a crushing heartbreak that never heals or fades. Raw, quiet but brimming with pain, this was a strong emotive piece. Thanks for sharing.

Oh man.. This is utterly heart breaking. Gut wrenching, soul twisting stuff! ..I think I made my point, lols. A terribly tragic piece, the sorrow, the anguish, growing and growing.. It's hard to read, to have to experience a little of it alongside the speaker. EMotionally loaded.. You really caught me with your words.

Lily^^

I can identify with this piece totally, having lost a son before his time. A beautifully sad reflection on such a tragic loss and a difficult thing to live with. Many thanks for sharing this work,

I felt this. Absence isn't a space, it's a palpable THING that reminds.

Wonderfully sad, honest write. Concise and to the point. Well done on the spotlight.
