Hate the mail, I mail the hate. (Palindrome)

Post by miharu » April 16th, 2013, 9:51 pm

Yours is this last kiss,
my lips likened to sealed envelopes.
Feeling like I hate the messages,
The carrying rejection of
Innocuous letters, opened.
I wanted not final words,
Hated the mail.

Mail the hated words, final, not wanted.
I opened letters innocuous of
Rejection,
Carrying the messages,
The hate I like feeling.
Envelopes sealed to likened lips
My kiss last,
This is yours.

--

@.@ I apologize if this makes no sense.

I love palindromes! Its always hard to make every single word make perfect sense...there is a bit of a mental stretch with every pal to find the other meaning...that's part of the fun! The title as a pal was really cool too...hate the mail/mail the hate...its like a metaphor for disliking what is wrong with our world but contributng to it anyway...beautiful! Great end! - Dew

"Sit on a pan Otis" - first palindrome I ever read (look at the letters)

I love it. Of course it makes sense. I got the emotional tug from it. The punctuation you incorporated made it work. These are tough and I think you made it your own. Thanks for all the commitment you made to the carnival. I know it was hard for you to get away during work. It would not have been the same without you.

The palindrome is a form that would drive me bananas if forced to write it. So serious hats off to anyone that not only takes it on, but creates one as successfully as this! I really like how the flip brings a different tone and perspective too. Tres cool!

Quite a daring read, and not many days ago I didn't know that there was a palindrome form of poetry. I especially liked the line 'the hate i like feeling'. It's really strange to fathom, but sometimes I think we like to feel vitriol, if even subconsciously, because it makes us feel more alive and gives us a challenge. Sometimes we become complacent in this world and are looking for a little shake-up.

MiMi, n-e-v-er apologize for your work.
It is magical.
The flow, the tenderness, the loss and despair all cam through to me.
Love is such a bitter four letter word. and such a difficult pill to swallow.
You did a fanatastic job of relating your feelings through this piece.

I love palindromes! I did one a while back and they are actually fun! Thanks for letting me mention you in my piece, not that I asked... but I loved the line! It's been a great ride and I am so glad you came along! It was such a pleasure to write with you Mimi! You are one talented chick and it was an honor to be on the same page with you all every day! Great piece to finish up the IK annual challenge!

This is mightily impressive, I don't think I would have the patience to construct a palindrome poem, and not only have you made one which makes perfect sense back and forth, and to me it highlighted the pain of a long-distance relationship, like love by mail, with the sense of unease that it isn't something more tangible and permanent.
A most enviable poem indeed.

You have inspired me to attempt this form Miharu; someday soon.
The possibilities are endless and I will use this as a guide to my opus magnus. Cheers and thanks for inspiration - now lick that stamp (or stamp that lick, whatever!) - cheers, Dan

The next day - this is killing me, Uncle!

You have opened the door to another style of verse that I am sure many will want to experiment with. A curious and captivating read. As for the apology....you need never request so. Congratulations on your spotlight.

I am pretty impressed with the poem by itself. Throw in the fact of the form and the whole thing becomes ridiculously amazing.

This is one of the ones I nominated for the forms hidden gem award because it's awesome, so I'm really glad to see it spotlighted! Personally, I can't imagine writing one of these, and to see you do it so skillfully is intimidating. Fabulous write. Congrats on the spotlight!

Thank you for sharing! It amazes me that so much sense can be made while turning it backwards. It is one thing to do a line or two, but you have two full stanzas to reflect the result. Congratulations!

You've definitely earned my respect with this beautiful palindrome.
All the emotions conveyed in such limited words and it all makes sense.

You've deserved that spotlight!

A most excellent write!
