Wrap Up

Post by LMR » January 16th, 2013, 2:34 pm

The seasons of life.
The seasons of day.
Moments to hold to.
Some set away.

Bitter its arrival and cold is its sting.
Lethal the force from such a beautiful thing.
Some winters beginning and others its end.
No one can fight it no sense to pretend.
Wrap up for that winter, store up all you need.
Your certain to shed some and likely to bleed.
But as its arrival so does it depart.
Breaking your spirit while cleansing your heart.

Hope follows sadness as day follows night.
Spring time is mellow its colours are bright.
New life is emerging, with buds on the trees.
Nature is growing, a chill in its breeze.
Futures are forming, suprise on its way.
Revealing this season, an enticing display.
Over are the dark days, gone with its fears.
But the memory it lingers, and so do its tears.

Hot humid season, a warm windless day.
A time of frivolity a season of play.
It lightens the sorrows, it dries up the rain.
Relief from the aching, healing the pain.
A respite approaching, a great time to rest.
These are the moments we feel truly blessed.
Summer is over, a bit of a tease.
Smiles it afforded a new sense of ease.

The beautiful season the one on its own.
Yet often the season i feel most alone.
Leaves of burnt ember, the colours Ignite.
Long linger evenings and shorter the light.
Memories of autumn store deep my heart.
For many an ending, for some a fresh start.
As autumn time passes prepare to retire.
Breathless from senses, a vision of fire.

Wrap up for that winter, store up all you need.
Your certain to shed some and your likely to bleed.

Agreed with both commenters above, this is a really well formed poem with many enjoyable facets. There's a lot of concrete imagery mixed in with more metaphorical expressions, yet even within the more natural and seasonal themed stanzas I feel like you stay close to the parallels between human emotion and seasonal changes.
Very rhythmic writing and excellent use of a refrain to conclude with.

I like how in the end we realize this kind of transformation is a cycle. Good work.

Such a sense of dance in the cyclical nature and repetitions, we are so affected and affiliated to the changing year and I think that connection is well observed, congratulations on the spotlight mx

Really appreciated the emotional sub-theme weaving its way throughout the seasons.

I was especially touched by the arrival of spring:

Hope follows sadness as day follows night.

A very apt description of the seasons and changes we go through. I love the words and flowing sentences. Very deserving of the spotlight and splendid writing.
