Dirty Looks Leave Me... Smoking.

Post by EvanCervantes » September 25th, 2012, 3:01 pm

I walk passed
As they stare
Judging me.

The Thieves
The Murderers
The Pedophiles
The Abusive Parents
The Wife beaters
The Racists
The People who cheat on their taxes...

They're all judging me.

But maybe they're right
Maybe I'm the bad guy.

I mean, only Scumbags
Smoke Marlboros in public...

Twas poetic justice and quite an interesting philosophical view.
It was a form of accusotory poetry that is quite rare these days.
Judging is sadly a human thing to do, particurlarly smoking-
as it is associated with "bad people." It was simple, short,
and to the point.

Looking forward to more!

“I soon realized that poets do not compose their poems with knowledge, but by some inborn talent and by inspiration, like seers and prophets who also say many fine things without any understanding of what they say.”

I can't say I agree with you about smoking in public, but I agree, there are greater crimes committed in private.

Eventually, I ventured into free verse.

Beautiful poem! We mere humans are all prone to fault, one of which being our desire to judge other people in order to feel more justified about our own petty lives. What a better way to illustrate this than with such a bold and concise poem. I enjoyed this poem.

Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you've no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain!

I guess you could say that I don't get this one. It is too meandering a trail for me to walk on.

This is GREAT!!!!!! You are fast becoming the King of Tongue-In-Cheek on this site and I Love it. Thanks for another very enjoyable read. I'm still grinning. Saved on bookmark for another time, when a grin and an "Atta-boy" is needed.

This is fantastic. Loved the unexpected ending and the clever title. Good work.

Lovely ending. Well done on the spotlight. Most deserving.
